By Chava Chelhav and Dalia Golomb
This book is intended for teachers using the Feldenkrais Method and for their students who are interested in expanding their understanding of the method. There are 18 lessons in ‘Awareness Through Movement’ given by Dr Chava Shelhav, in accordance with the method of Dr Moshe Feldenkrais.
The uniqueness of this book, in addition to the lessons themselves, is in the explanations, the comments and the illuminations, which accompany each lesson.
Dr Chava Shelhav is a senior teacher of the Feldenkrais method; was born in Israel and lives in Tel Aviv. Dr Shelhav was a member of the first group of students personally by Dr Moshe Feldenkrais, worked with him for many years and acted as his assistant in programs worldwide. She is one of a handful of people who are responsible for the promotion of the Method to the international status it holds nowadays. Dr Shelhav has achieved distinction through her work with infants and children, especially disabled ones.
Her method of teaching utilizes aspects of the Body-Mind relationship, and emphasises the influence of early development on the individual and social personality.
In this book she offers a selection of her extensive teaching experience in the Method, derived from her professional expertise of over thirty years.
Ms Dalia Golomb is a practitioner and teacher of the Feldenkrais Method, a graduate of Chava’s Tel Aviv training program. Prior to this she was a career music teacher.
Working with the ministry of education in Israel, she headed The Methodical Centre of Music Education, which published books, planned teaching programs and organised courses for music teachers.
In this book she introduces a graphical structure for presenting the written lessons in a way that clarifies and illuminates the reading, resulting in a deeper understanding and ease of teaching.
